At Soar Valley Dental Practice, we welcome new patients of all ages for general and cosmetic dental treatment. Patient care is at the heart of everything we do, and our goal is to provide every patient with a dental experience that will exceed their expectations.
When you come in for your new patient consultation, you will be greeted by our practice care coordinator, who will take you through to our comfortable private care suite. Our care coordinators are highly experienced and qualified dental nurses who are thoroughly familiar with all aspects of dentistry, and who will provide you with all the support and information you need to feel confident in the treatment you are receiving.
Your new patient consultation will last one hour, during which your care coordinator will take a detailed medical history, so that we know if there are any conditions or medications we need to be aware of, and will also chat to you about your dental history and your feelings and past experiences of dental treatment. Please don’t be afraid to raise any concerns or ask any questions you may have concerning treatment.
You will then be taken to meet your dentist. Your care coordinator will stay with you for your first examination, so that she has a full understanding of the treatment plan recommended to you by the dentist.
The dentist will perform a thorough oral examination, taking x-rays as necessary. We have a detailed 17-point dental health check which we carry out for all patients. Your dentist will show you the inside of your mouth using an intra-oral camera to help you understand any recommendations they make, and will provide you with all the treatment options available to you, so that you can make an informed choice about any treatment you may need.
Back in the care suite, your care coordinator will go through all the treatment options in depth, using easy-to-understand, non-technical language. Only when you are entirely happy with your choices will you be provided with a treatment plan.
Nervous patients are encouraged to talk to the care coordinator away from the dental chair, so that they can put your mind at ease. You are also welcome to listen to your favourite music or watch a DVD during treatment, to help you feel relaxed.
