Your child’s orthodontic journey

A clear plan for their developing smile

If you’re considering early orthodontic treatment for your child, we’re here to help you understand the options.

Rachel will assess your child’s dental development and create a personalised plan. We’ll explain each stage, the fees and the support available, so you can decide what’s right for your family.

Book a consultation with Rachel — £60

1. Your first consultation

Your journey starts with a 30-minute appointment with Rachel to discuss your concerns, assess your child’s dental development and explore whether treatment may be appropriate.

If time allows, we’ll also take a digital scan and clinical photographs.

Consultation fee: £60.

2. Gathering the information

To plan treatment, Rachel may recommend specialist orthodontic X-rays:

  • OPG: a panoramic image of the teeth and jaws.

  • CEPH: a side-view image used to assess the relationship between the teeth and jaws.

If your child’s digital scan and photographs weren’t taken at the consultation, one of our Treatment Coordinators can complete these at this appointment.

Each X-ray costs £81 for non-registered patients or £65 for practice plan members. These payments are deducted from the comprehensive treatment fee if you proceed.

3. Your child’s personalised report

Rachel will review the X-rays, scan and photographs, plan your child’s case and prepare an orthodontic report.

We’ll send this to you digitally for you to read and sign. You’ll then have an appointment to discuss the recommendations before deciding whether to begin treatment.

4. Talking through the plan

We’ll arrange a video call or an appointment at the practice with Rachel to explain:

  • The proposed treatment and its different phases.

  • The expected benefits, risks and alternatives.

  • The likely timescale and your child’s role in treatment.

  • Your personalised fees and payment arrangements.

  • Tongue Teacher support and whether Myobrace is recommended.

  • How we’ll monitor progress.

You’ll have time to ask questions and a written treatment plan to refer to afterwards.

5. Getting ready to begin

If you’re happy to proceed, we’ll complete the consent and authorisation process. If some time has passed since the original scan, we may arrange a fresh scan before ordering the appliances.

A £1,000 deposit towards treatment allows us to submit your child’s case to the laboratory.

We’ll also send an invitation to Tongue Teacher so your child can complete the initial app assessment.

6. Your fitting appointment

The fitting appointment is usually three to four weeks after the case is submitted to the laboratory.

We’ll fit your child’s appliance, explain how to use and care for it, and set up Dental Monitoring to support their treatment.

The remaining treatment balance is due at this appointment. Finance is available and must be arranged before the fitting date if you choose this option.

7. Supporting progress

Dental Monitoring allows Rachel to follow your child’s progress remotely, alongside appointments at the practice as required.

We’ll explain how to submit scans, follow instructions and contact us if you need help. Dental Monitoring is included throughout comprehensive treatment

8. The pause between phases

Your child’s plan may include a pause while we wait for the remaining adult teeth to emerge.

Where recommended, Myobrace is used during this period. Rachel will explain how it fits into your child’s plan and when they will be ready for the second phase.

Myobrace costs an additional £120.

9. The second phase and maintaining the result

When your child is ready, Rachel will guide them through the second treatment phase.

The comprehensive package covers both phases, including up to five years of aligner treatment if needed. It also includes one fixed retainer to help maintain the result.

Rachel will explain the retention and ongoing care arrangements appropriate for your child.

Comprehensive treatment fees

Comprehensive treatment typically costs around £4,900. Your child’s individual fee will be confirmed in their written treatment plan.
